What Started as an Interest in Circuits Slowly Became Pratham’s Career Direction

For Pratham Tibrewal, choosing a career was never about following trends or chasing a popular branch. It began with a simple realization during his entrance preparation days – he genuinely enjoyed studying Electronics. That interest eventually led him to the IIT Madras BS Degree in Electronic Systems, one of the early batches of the program.

What attracted him most was the opportunity to study Electronics in a deeper, more practical way. The hybrid nature of the degree felt very different from a conventional college experience, but that difference soon became one of the most memorable parts of his journey.

The program introduced him to a learning environment where theory and practical work went hand in hand.

Those hectic nights slowly turned into moments of friendship. Students stayed up debugging circuits, fixing kits, helping each other before morning evaluations, and learning far beyond textbooks. For Pratham, these experiences felt closest to the traditional college experience within the BS ecosystem.

He especially enjoyed the hands-on nature of electronics labs, where concepts from lectures finally became visible through actual systems and circuits. Even though the schedules were intense and students often had limited time on campus, the lab weeks became something everyone looked forward to.

Simultaneously, Pratham also explored opportunities outside the classroom. One important milestone in his journey was an internship at BluArmor, a company working on helmet-mounted Electronic Systems. Working with the Instrumentation team gave him exposure to how products move from design to assembly and packaging in a real industry environment. Rather than seeing the internship as just another line on a resume, he saw it as a chance to understand how core companies function in practice.

The degree also taught him something beyond academics – self-management. Because the program offered significant flexibility, self-discipline became essential. Some days involved long study hours, evening lectures, revisions, and late-night preparation before quizzes or end-terms. Over time, he learned how to create his own routine and balance responsibilities independently.

Despite the demanding schedule, Pratham made space for experiences that kept him connected to the community. From attending workshops during Paradox 2024 to participating in RoboSoccer events, he enjoyed exploring the creative side of the program as well. He also enjoys playing the keyboard whenever he gets time.

Looking back, he feels that while the degree is certainly challenging, the struggles, pressure, and long nights eventually become the very memories students value the most later on.

Today, Pratham is focused on building a future in chip design and embedded systems. He plans to pursue higher studies and move toward the research side of electronics through GATE and further specialization.

Reflecting on his experience, he believes the program demands patience, discipline, and real interest in learning; but for those who stay committed, it offers experiences and knowledge that make the entire journey meaningful.
