When we started out to create a newsletter for the BS Degree Program, we wanted a fresh perspective filled with information, a place where students could contribute and opportunities to make use of.

Highlights – Data Science Courses

This 12-week Machine Learning Foundations course provides an introduction to the essential principles of Machine Learning. Designed to be a comprehensive guide, the course serves as a high-level primer, enabling participants to recognize real-world issues, patterns, and applications of machine learning. Tailored for both novices and seasoned

professionals, the curriculum delves into the intricacies of linear algebra, calculus, constrained optimization, and parameter estimation—equipping learners to effectively communicate in the language of machines.

Difficulty Rating:

Rated as low-difficulty by students who have completed the course, learners from non-mathematical backgrounds may find the initial weeks challenging and may require additional time to grasp the concepts effectively.

Average Time Commitment:

The Machine Learning Foundations course lays the groundwork for subsequent courses in the Data Science program. To grasp the concepts imparted by the experienced team, it is recommended that students dedicate approximately 12-18 hours per week.

i) Proficiently identifying real-world problems and patterns.

ii) Mastering applied calculus and linear algebra fundamentals.

iii) Understanding the application of Singular Value Decomposition and Principle Component Analysis.

v) Recognizing various probabilistic models and their utilization in machine-learning problem-solving.

Amid the CoV-19 pandemic, social media had become a battleground for facts and falsehoods. Millions of tweets with anti-vaccine sentiments and skepticism swirling around, each carrying its own message, some informative, others misleading – posing a significant challenge to public health efforts. We explored traditional ML methods, transformers, and most importantly cutting edge models like GPT 3.5. Our innovative approach combining diverse promoting strategies surpassed other methods, showcasing LLM's potential in intricate multi-label classification tasks!
