For as long as he can remember, Aditya Pratap has been followed by the soft hum of a circuit board. To most people, it’s just static; to him, it’s a language – a rhythm, a call to create.

His journey began in the tinkering corners of his childhood, with a screwdriver in one hand and curiosity in the other. This passion eventually led him to pursue a BS in Electronic Systems (ES) from IIT Madras, which he studies alongside his on-campus degree as a second-year Electrical and Computer Engineering student.

Aaditya Pratap’s decision to pursue the ES degree alongside his on-campus program wasn’t made on a whim. “I was always deeply interested in the electrical side of physics and electronics,” he shares. For Aditya, this online degree is more than just an extra qualification; it’s a carefully planned path that is helping him excel in his studies and build a strong foundation for his future career goals.

Aditya speaks enthusiastically about the program’s thoughtful design and delivery. He emphasizes that the courses are “a bit deeper as compared to a regular degree,” which provides a more thorough understanding of electronic systems. This approach ensures that students don’t just scratch the surface but develop knowledge that is invaluable in real-world applications.

Despite juggling two degrees, Aditya makes it a point to attend the instructor sessions, finding them invaluable for clearing doubts and deepening his understanding. He also appreciates that the instructors focus on guiding students and clarifying their questions, rather than just delivering information.

According to Aditya, the skills and concepts he gains from the IITM coursework, especially in electronics and digital electronics, give him a significant advantage in his other degree. He gets a head start and a deeper understanding of the subjects.

This program breaks the myth that online degrees are purely theoretical by offering hands-on lab sessions. Getting the lab kit early on allowed Aditya to build circuits and work on projects from the comfort of his home.

He has also visited the IIT Madras campus three times for hands-on sessions.

“Doing practicals there and learning new things was an experience I genuinely enjoyed,” he shares. During one session, he recalls working under Professor Janakiraman, who closely supervised the practicals, provided feedback, and ensured that students were effectively combining both digital and analog concepts.

Aaditya Pratap firmly believes that the IITM BS in Electronics Systems is closely aligned with current industry demands. The curriculum, he says, equips students with the knowledge and tools needed to translate theory into real world applications. “This degree really strengthens your conceptual base,” he notes, “and that’s going to be a huge asset when I pursue my master’s.”

Looking ahead, Aditya plans to pursue a master’s in Electrical Engineering or Physics and dedicate himself to research. He sees the IITM BS in Electronic Systems as a launchpad. The strong foundation he is building is giving him the skills, mindset, and confidence to pursue a future driven by innovation, discovery, and impactful engineering.
