Hitesh Binjrawat, a passionate learner from Rewari, Haryana, is balancing two academic pursuits simultaneously. Alongside his BSc in Physical Sciences at Delhi University, he is also a Degree level student in the IITM BS Degree Program. His plate is full, but he stays committed to the BS Degree, proving that with the right mindset, even the busiest of schedules can be managed! Hithesh’s journey with the BS Degree began right after his board exams in 2022 – a decision largely influenced by his tuition teacher.
“He encouraged me to join the program, citing the industry relevance and comprehensive curriculum, which covers programming as well as data science,” Hitesh shares. Despite the initial skepticism, his teacher’s words made him take the leap of faith.
Currently in the second term of his BSc level, Hitesh looks back at that decision with gratitude. He appreciates the well-organized and high-quality nature of the degree program, which has guided him towards a focused and purposeful learning journey. “The way subjects like Math 1 and 2, Statistics 1 and 2, Computational Thinking, and Python are laid out really helps in building a foundation for the advanced courses, enriching your grasp over the fundamentals,” he explains.
In his school days, his primary motivation to excel was achieving higher grades. However, this perspective underwent a significant shift upon entering the IITM BS Degree program.
He understood that the real value lay in learning, not just in scoring. “I realised that CGPA is just a byproduct of learning,”
he reflects. Now, with each new term, his perspective has evolved. It now includes deep diving into concepts and asking himself the question: What have I learned this time? This mindset has fostered in him a focus on lifelong learning.
For Hitesh, the aspect that makes this degree different from others is its structure.
“Along with its flexibility, the course boasts a carefully designed and effectively delivered curriculum. This holds true for exams, workshops, and internships,” he explains, noting how the foundational courses equip students with the necessary knowledge to progress smoothly into Diploma and Degree level topics.
He also appreciates the guidance and assistance towards internship opportunities, post diploma level through the IIC. This helps students gain work experience while studying, making for a truly enriching degree. He has already applied for one and is eagerly waiting for a positive response.
Talking about his plans for the future, he tells us that his primary goal is to secure a job that provides him with financial independence. Down the line, if the opportunity presents itself, healso hopes to earn an M.Tech. But for now, he is eyeing that first big job, leveraging the skills and knowledge gained from the IITM BS Degree.
His advice to future students is not too different from his own attitude towards different courses: “Focus on learning, it should be your priority,” he says. He also mentions that students need to remain calm and composed, for the program’s flexibility allows them to go at their own pace. His final piece of advice is to master the concepts of Math 2, Statistics 2, PDSA, and System Commands, as they lay the groundwork for future learning. “ Do this,” he says confidently, “and you’ll be good to go.”
