At 25, Pratyaksh Singh embodies a unique blend of discipline, curiosity, and purpose. Originally from Punjab and now residing in Rajasthan, he is a dedicated believer in meditation and self-reflection, bringing an inward journey to his outward academic life.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics already complete, Pratyaksh is currently pursuing the BSc level of the BS Degree program in Data Science and Applications. He envisions a future where he can pioneer change in the education system.

Pratyaksh’s childhood fascination with Marvel Comics, particularly Iron Man’s world of automation and innovation, left him with a lasting impression. While he lacked proper academic guidance during his early high school years, the IITM BS Degree program proved to be his turning point.

The program’s curriculum offered both depth and direction, aligning perfectly with his interests. Pratyaksh notes, “The degree has a beautiful structure,” which reignited and fueled his passion for data science and machine learning. Despite this strong start, the journey was not without its challenges.

For Pratyaksh, the BS Degree experience has been far more than just academics. He has fully immersed himself in co-curricular activities – from dance and music to fashion competitions – connecting with peers from diverse backgrounds. His perspective was further broadened by participating in social initiatives and entrepreneurial experiments applying AI/ML to education.

His leadership skills also shone through when he led the WebOps team of Sundarbans House, gaining valuable experience in collaboration and management. When asked about his Paradox experience, his answer is short and sweet: “Lively.” He laughs, adding, “The heat of Chennai may have been tougher than Rajasthan’s, but the energy of the event made it unforgettable.”

Pratyaksh firmly believes that the true gift of the IITM BS program lies in its approach to problem-solving. He emphasizes, “This degree trains problem solvers,” instilling the confidence that any challenge can be overcome through a step-by-step methodology rooted in the curriculum and projects.

His involvement with Sundarbans House and the diploma-level projects provided practical exposure to leadership, teamwork, and real-world problem management.

Academically, two NPTEL courses stand out: Social Networks and Data Mining. He particularly admired how Professor Iyengar simplifies complex concepts without jargon in the Social Networks course, making the subject both accessible and deeply insightful.

Currently, Pratyaksh is employed as an Academic Coordinator at a Mumbai-based firm specializing in robotics-based educational tools and curricula for schools. His long-term vision remains firmly centered on the education sector, a field where he sees vast potential for innovation and positive change on a global scale.

“Don’t give up,” he insists. “At first, the course might feel overwhelming, but stay with it. This degree sharpens you in ways you can’t imagine and prepares you for the AI-driven world ahead. Keep up the hard work; it will make you an invaluable asset.”
