Diploma (Electronic Systems)
While most students follow conventional trends after school, Parth Dubey made a different choice, betting on the hardware that drives modern software. His journey is a blend of curiosity and opportunity that led him down an unconventional academic path.
After scoring well in JEE Mains but falling short of qualifying for JEE Advanced, he found a unique path through the IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems program. He enrolled and is now impressively balancing this rigorous program alongside his B.Tech in Computer Science at JNU.
According to Parth, the ES program is far more than just ticking off classes and credits; it’s a holistic experience. Enrolling in this degree means diving into experiments, sparking innovation, and completely changing the way technology is perceived.
Unlike most online programs confined to screens, the ES degree breaks the mold with a hybrid model, bringing soldering irons, breadboards, and real circuits right into learners’ homes. Miniaturized lab kits arrive at their doorsteps, granting them the freedom to tinker anytime, anywhere.
The ES curriculum maintains a pragmatic balance, rooted in theory but constantly tied back to hardware, ensuring every concept connects with real industry needs. As Parth explains, “They don’t just stick to whiteboards or slides, they bring in real-world applications, which makes you see why you’re learning a concept in the first place.” The modules build skills brick by brick, progressing from fundamentals to advanced applications.
What truly stands out is that the assignments and labs never allow learners to stay passive; instead, they push them to experiment, apply, and question, turning every lesson into a hands-on discovery.
The program regularly draws learners to the lively IIT Madras campus three times a year – not for casual visits, but for immersive, full-day lab sessions where digital learning meets physical application.
In these labs, it’s not unusual to see a 19-year-old student working shoulder to shoulder with a 45-year-old professional, both equally captivated by oscilloscopes and signal processors.
Guided by approachable, supportive TAs and surrounded by peers who share the same spark, these lab sessions distill the essence of campus life into intense, practical bursts of learning and connection.
For Parth, the ES degree isn’t the finish line; it’s the beginning of limitless possibilities. His vision for the future spans exciting horizons, from preparing for the UPSC civil services exam – sparked by the story of an electrical engineer who became an RBI governor – to pursuing higher studies in analog electronics.
What the program offers him goes far beyond circuits; it’s fundamentally shaping the way he thinks, solves problems, and builds a rock-solid foundation for whatever path he decides to chase next.
Parth adds, “this degree isn’t about convenience, it’s about rigor. It isn’t a shortcut, it’s a commitment. For those driven by the thrill of bringing hardware to life, this program is far more than just a degree. It’s an entry into a world where electronics transcends boundaries.”
The IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems program perfectly embodies this spirit, acting as a true trailblazer. It opens doors to hardware, semiconductors, and the deep technology that will shape our world’s future, setting powerful examples for learners like Parth.
