Inside Abhisar’s Electronic Systems Journey

Abhisar Prajapati
BS (Electronic Systems)

For Abhisar Prajapati, electronics was never just another subject in school. Since his early days, he was always curious about how devices actually worked – what goes on inside chips, circuits, and motherboards that power the technology around us. That curiosity slowly turned into a clear goal: he wanted to build a future in electronics.

After completing school, he came across the IIT Madras BS Degree in Electronic Systems at exactly the right time. The program had just been introduced, and the moment he read about it, he knew he wanted to be a part of it.

He enrolled in the very first batch in the September 2023 term, cleared the qualifier process, and began a journey that would eventually bring him much closer to the field he had always wanted to explore deeply.

What made the experience special for him was not just the academics, but the feeling that many of the questions he had carried for years were finally getting answered. Subjects that once felt complicated started making sense through lectures, assignments, and hands-on labs. Step by step, electronics became more than just an interest – it became something he could confidently work with and understand.

One of the most memorable experiences during the program has been the lab sessions on campus. For him, labs were where theory transformed into something tangible. Concepts learned online suddenly became practical experiences through circuits, sensors, microcontrollers, and embedded systems.

The campus visits during lab sessions also gave him an opportunity to experience IIT Madras closely, interact with professors, and meet fellow students who shared similar interests. He attended events like Paradox as an audience member and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, workshops, and conversations with peers.

Like any rigorous program, managing the degree was not always easy. There were phases when he handled four theory courses along with lab sessions, assignments, and deadlines together. During those hectic weeks, he learned how to prioritise his time better by reducing distractions and focusing more on studies whenever required. Over time, he found his own balance.

Another important support in his support was the fee waiver he received during a financially difficult phase. It allowed him to continue the program without having to compromise his focus on learning.

What Abhisar values most about the IIT Madras BS Degree is the combination of flexibility and depth. He believes the program gives students the freedom to learn from anywhere while still maintaining strong academic quality and practical exposure.

Don’t treat this as just an online degree. If you truly engage with it, the learning and opportunities are immense.

Looking ahead, he plans to complete the degree with strong fundamentals, gain internship experience, and begin his career in the electronics field. For students considering this program, his advice is simple: attend live sessions, interact with peers and professors, explore the campus whenever possible, and make the most of every opportunity the program places in front of you.
